For over 40 years, CONTACT Community Services has proudly served the communities of South Simcoe. Everything we do starts from a place that honours dignity, respect, and confidentiality.
Today, our services are in high demand. Vulnerable individuals and families in South Simcoe are facing enormous pressures. Through lockdowns, job losses, and health crises, the pandemic has underscored and intensified these challenges. Shared vulnerability helps us see our common humanity. No one can do it alone. We need to rally together and offer the resources to begin again. This is collective resilience.
We’re working harder than ever to meet our community’s needs.
Now more than ever, vulnerable individuals and families in South Simcoe are facing enormous pressures. These pressures include job losses, mental health concerns and health crisis, of which the pandemic and the rising costs of living have only underscored and intensified. Everyone has their story. Individuals and families who come through our doors may be: experiencing homelessness (or are about to be homeless), trying to obtain a stable and meaningful job, or struggling with mental health or addiction issues. They may be a senior who is isolated or a family who doesn’t know where the next meal is coming from. Crisis doesn’t discriminate.
Our Community Hope Chest is aimed at helping us meet the ever-growing need for critical services that ‘don’t fit into a regular funding model’. These funds often cover basic needs, such as transportation costs for a client to get to a doctor’s appointment, a job interview or an apartment viewing. Additionally, these funds will provide money for emergency food, prescriptions, dental care or communication devices not eligible through other government streams.

Linda was renting and living in an old, detached garage paying $500 a month, for more than 3 years, as she was unable to find housing close to her work. She did not own and could not afford a vehicle, relying on taxis to take her to and from work.
After a workplace injury, Linda’s income decreased, making it harder for her to afford getting into town for supplies. The homeowner died, leaving Linda without running water and no heat. She relied on a space heater for warmth during the winter months. The roof was leaky and covered with tarps to keep the water from getting in.
With the help of CONTACT and other local organizations, Linda was able to find a small, affordable apartment in October 2021. She was very grateful to have connected with CONTACT.
