The Clothes Line provides a valuable community service by recycling gently used clothing, small household goods, electronics, toys, and books. The Clothes Line also works with many local community organizations to provide free clothing and household goods to those in need. Proceeds raised by The Clothes Line help support CONTACT's various programs/services.
Due to Covid-19, we’ve implemented new policies to keep our community safe. This includes social distancing, wearing masks in-store, providing hand sanitizer. See full policy
Donations are by appointment only. To set an appointment please use the online booking tool by clicking The Clothes Line tab above, if you have any issues please call 705 434 0790. Donations cannot be left after hours. Toys are no longer accepted. See full policy. Our Bradford location is currently not accepting any winter clothing donations due to lack of storage. The Alliston location will take all season clothing still.
Items we can accept
Please keep in mind the quality and resale value of the goods you are donating. If you are unable to sell an item at a garage sale or wouldn’t give it to a friend or a family member, we probably won't be able to sell it!
Clothing & Accessories
Men’s, women's, and children’s clothing, jewelry, hats, mitts, scarves, ties, shoes (all types), purses, and wallets
Housewares
Bed & Bath Items: towels, bedspreads, comforters, sheets, blankets, pillowcases, curtains, and tablecloths.
Kitchen Items: mugs, pots, pans, utensils, china cups, dishes, cutlery, glassware, silverware, stemware, cookware, and hand tools
Household Items:
Pictures, frames, vases, baskets
Small electrical appliances in good working condition: toasters, radios, power tools, irons, blenders, mixers, small stereos, CD players, hairdryers, curling irons, lamps, telephones, and clocks
Miscellaneous Items:
Games, puzzles, books (hardback and paperback), records, CD's, DVD's, bicycles, and ice skates
Items we cannot accept
We appreciate your generosity and goodwill, however any donations that we are unable to use waste valuable volunteer time and resources on sorting through and disposing of items that cannot be sold.
We can not accept these items:
- Toys
- Computers/monitors/printers
- VHS or cassette tapes
- Construction items/motors/paint
- Food/medicine
- Infants cars seats and cribs
- Large furniture
- Major appliances
- Mattresses/box springs
- Televisions
- Tires/rims
- Toilets/sinks
Donation Drop-off
Donations are by appointment only. Please click on The Clothes Line tab at the top of the page to use our Online Booking Tool or call 705 434 0790 to book your drop-off appointment.
Drop-offs are accepted at the back entrance of The Clothes Line via Dickson Lane (off Wellington Street behind the Dr Kula dentist office). during regular store hours. Please do not leave items outside. All items that are wet, must be disposed of.
